How to Prepare

1. A stool specimen must be collected in a clean container with a tight-fitting lid (e.g. margarine or similar container). Collection containers are available in the Laboratory in Suite 011.
2. Use only the container to collect the specimen. Please do not take the stool from tissue paper or from the toilet. Any specimen collected in this manner will be rejected because of contamination.
3. Approximately one tablespoon of specimen is required for most testing.
4. You must deliver your specimen to the Laboratory either within one hour of collecting it or you must refrigerate it and deliver it to the Laboratory within 24 hours of collection.
5. Please bring the laboratory requisition provided by your doctor.
