Notice of Privacy Practices and Patient Rights
- After you have been given a laboratory requisition by your doctor, please pick up a collection container in the Laboratory in Suite 011. If there are special instructions for the particular lab test(s) your doctor has ordered, or if the collection container requires a special preservative, then you'll receive further instructions when you pick up the container.
- Choose a day when it will be convenient for you to collect your urine for 24 hours.
- When you wake up that morning, empty your bladder into the toilet as usual. That specimen is not collected for testing. From then on, please collect all of your urine in the container for the remainder of the day and night including the first specimen the following morning. For example, if you wake up at 8 a.m. on Sunday morning, empty your bladder into the toilet. Then, save all of your urine for the rest of the day and night including the first specimen on Monday morning.
- For accuracy, you must collect all of your urine during the time period because the amount and content of the urine will be measured and be used to calculate your test results.
- Please refrigerate the collection container.
- Return the collection container to the Laboratory within 24 hours of your last urine collection.
- Please bring the laboratory requisition provided by your doctor.
